{"id":100,"date":"2008-04-17T10:43:18","date_gmt":"2008-04-17T08:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.robinward.com\/?p=100"},"modified":"2013-08-15T15:18:20","modified_gmt":"2013-08-15T14:18:20","slug":"asus-epc-and-3g-internet-via-usb-phone-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robinward.com\/?p=100","title":{"rendered":"Asus epc and 3G internet via USB phone connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week i took some time to add mobile 3G internet connectivity to my Epc using my Nokia e61 as a 3G modem.<\/p>\n<p>My phone supports modem support using the USB data cable, bluetooth or the integrated WI-FI.<\/p>\n<p>I plan to go for the cable first since i always carry one around and being mobile often means draining as less power as possible from both my Epc and my mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p>First of all you need to make sure you have the Debian repositories in your \/etc\/apt\/sources.lst and theninstall wvdial by using the install command <strong>apt-get install wvdial<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the installation you will need to modify your \/etc\/wvdial.conf in order to build up the internet connection.<\/p>\n<p>This is just a basic example but it should work with the current Nokia phones:<br \/>\n<code><br \/>\n[Dialer Defaults]<br \/>\nInit1 = ATZ<br \/>\nInit2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &amp;C1 &amp;D2 +FCLASS=0<br \/>\nModem Type = USB Modem<br \/>\nBaud = 460800\u00b7<br \/>\nNew PPPD = yes<br \/>\nModem = \/dev\/ttyACM0<br \/>\nISDN = 0<br \/>\nPhone = *99#<br \/>\nPassword = blank<br \/>\nUsername =blank<br \/>\n<\/code><br \/>\nSelect the Suite connection type on your phone when you connect it via the USB cable and then fire up wvdial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week i took some time to add mobile 3G internet connectivity to my Epc using my Nokia e61 as a 3G modem.
